Pozzuoli is situated in the Phlegraean Peninsula of Italy's Campania region: a dormant supervolcano known as the legendary home of the forge-god Vulcan in Roman myth. As a result, its soil is rich in rust-red Iron ochres which, when mixed with the local Pozzolanic ash sand formed the basis of the world's first concrete.
Artists the world over recognise and appreciate Michael Harding’s handmade oil paints for their high pigment load and purity.
