New Cadmium Free Cadmium Yellow Light and Medium Matisse Structure Acrylic

Introducing the New Cadmium Free Cadmium Yellow Light and Medium in 75ml Matisse Structure Acrylic.

Newly introduced to the Matisse Structure Acrylic range are the exciting Cadmium free colours, Cadmium Yellow Light and Cadmium Yellow Medium.
In creating these new colours, Matisse Derivan wanted to address the concerns of artists who want to be able to employ the benefits of cadmium colours – tonal strength and brilliance, colouring ability, opacity, and longevity, whilst remaining completely free from exposure to dangerous heavy metals.

Cadmium Free Camium Yellow Light and Medium - Matisse Structure Acrylic

Many years ago, Matisse researched the pigments used in the current Matisse Cadmium colours to provide the safest possible true Cadmium pigments for artists. These pigments are sourced and washed with acid to remove all bio-available Cadmium and other heavy metals during their manufacturing process. This produces the safest cadmium colours available on the market and they continue to be in use within their product range to this day. Matisse cadmium colours are safe for artists who use best practices (washing hands before they eat, not spray applying colours – in short not ingesting or inhaling their materials!)
However, there was also a growing call from artists whose practice requires intimate contact with their materials, who required the removal of heavy metals from their paint. To that end, Matisse have collaborated with their suppliers to test alternative Cadmium free options whilst trying to maintain the unique Cadmium signatures mentioned earlier, that are so valued by artists.
The result has been two outstanding Cadmium Free colours that are as close as possible to the characteristics of the original Cadmium Yellow variants, whilst offering artists a true and safe alternative.

Cadmium Yellow Light has a colour close to that of primary yellow and helps mix a wide range of colours. The natural world is full of ochre and brown colours, and greens are everywhere, from dull dark olive greens to light yellowy greens where the sun brushes across foliage. Cadmium Yellow Light is the ideal yellow for working with this wide colour suite ranging from earth tones to the brightest light greens.
